Skincare for all Types of Skin

Today, taking care of your skin has become as important as taking care of your inner health. But how do you take care of something if you don’t understand where to begin? What is your skin type? And how do you take care of it?

Majorly, there are 5 skin types and their

characteristics:

  1. Oily skin: This skin type is identified by excessive sebum production. The level of sebum may fluctuate based on the weather or season. This skin type includes pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, or other skin flaws, thick, shiny, or dull complexion, enlarged & open pores, etc.
  2. Dry skin: Dry skin can swiftly become inflamed, irritated, itchy, and may peel or crack. When it becomes excessively dry, the skin can appear scaly and rough, especially in and around your legs, arms, and hands.
  3. Combination skin: Your skin is normal or dry in a few places and oily in other places, especially in the T-Zone (including your chin, forehead, and nose).
  4. Sensitive skin: If you are someone sensitive, then you should try to identify the triggers so that you can stay away from using those. Common characteristics are dryness, redness, burning sensation, etc.
  5. Normal skin: This skin type is neither too oily nor too dry. People in this case usually have glowing skin with a minute or no pores.

Now that all skin types are clear and understood, let’s see what skincare routine you need to follow to take care of each of these skin types.

  1. Oily skin: Oily skin requires a special oil-free facewash in the morning and night. A lotion-based, lightweight moisturizer is perfect for oily skin types. Drink enough water to keep your skin hydrated. This will prevent your skin from producing excess oil. In addition, avoid touching your face constantly.
  2. Dry skin: Moisturize your skin regularly right after bathing to keep it soft, plump, and hydrated. Facial oils are recommended too. Drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated. Use sunscreen to stop your skin from getting dehydrated.
  3. Combination skin: If you have combination skin, the pores in your T-zone are clearly than the rest of your face. Harsh products may clog your pores. Therefore, using a gentle cleanser is the right choice. When you exfoliate, don’t scrub your T-zone too much. Whether it’s sunscreen or any other skincare product, buy oil-free products to avoid clogged pores.
  4. Sensitive skin: Always perform a patch test before using any product on the skin. This is mandatory if you want to avoid your skin from reacting. Use a mild cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Do not put on too many products on your face. You can start with a mild, sulfate-free cleanser that does not form lather on your skin. Choose products formulated with ingredients that have soothing qualities like green tea extracts, chamomile, etc.
  5. Normal skin: If you have normal skin, always try to stay hydrated. Sunscreen is a must for overall skin health maintenance. An oil-free sunscreen is recommended to prevent clogging skin pores. Don’t forget to wash your face with a mild face wash every morning and night.
